We Treat the Underlying Cause of Headache and Migraine

Specialist non-drug treatment to help you find lasting relief from headache and migraine

Multidimensional physiotherapy based on the Watson Headache® Approach, combining gentle manual therapy, targeted exercise, sensorimotor retraining, and practical lifestyle guidance to support long-term, life-changing results.

Why Choose Us?

At The Headache and Migraine Centre, you’ll be assessed by experienced practitioners who have treated hundreds of consultant-neurologist-referred patients with headache and migraine. Many have tried multiple approaches and still experience symptoms, sometimes alongside the side effects of preventative or rescue medication. Our aim is not only symptom relief, but to identify and address the underlying contributors to your headache or migraine, then treat it with the following integrated process:

Manual Therapy

Skilled, evidence-informed manual therapy that is Watson Headache® Approach based but also draws on the work of several other researchers and manual therapy clinical practice pioneers.

Targeted Exercise

Mobility, strength and endurance, stability and motor control-based exercise to improve issues identified at assessment that are contributing to your clinical picture.

Sensorimotor Rehabilitation

Re-training how the nervous system controls movement - improving joint position sense (proprioception), balance and postural control, and eye-head coordination (including with head movement) to address dizziness and disequilibrium.

Lifestyle Education

Our practitioners consider the wider, non-physical factors that can influence headache and migraine and affect response to treatment. Stress, low mood and anxiety, sleep, diet, exercise, and medication use (including interactions or overuse) are all considered.

About Us

David Saligari is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist whose specialist practice is focussed on headache and migraine. A Watson Headache® Accredited Practitioner and Clinical Facilitator, he uses gentle segment-specific assessment of the upper neck to identify comparable mechanical signs causing headache and migraine. He then combines manual therapy with targeted exercise and practical lifestyle advice. Patients travel to Holywood from across NI, ROI and Scotland. He works alongside your Neurologist and GP to ensure joined‑up, non‑drug care.

What Our Patients Say

David was unbelievably skilled and knowledgeable about my neck condition which was giving me headaches, he treated it very successfully and I am delighted with the outcome. Derek McGookin

Having had headaches on an almost daily basis for a prolonged period, my Neurologist specifically referred me to David Saligari, Physiotherapist, at Active Health Solutions in Holywood. David specialises in this area and he was quick to source the root cause of my problem, to specific joints in my neck. I have completed treatment over a 3 month period, no longer need medication on a daily basis, and the headaches have lessened considerably. I would fully recommend this practice for any physiotherapy needs; it is an extremely well run practice, with very pleasant and welcoming staff. My ultimate thanks to David for his knowledge and professionalism. Joan Waite

I had been suffering debilitating headaches and was advised by my neurologist to contact David and arrange some physio. After 3 months, my headaches have greatly subsided, and thanks to treatment from David, who is very kind, professional and explains everything very thoroughly, I feel incredibly better. Thanks also to Charlotte at reception, for being so welcoming at every appointment. Lisa Johnston
